The Harvard student newspaper announced on Tuesday that the university's president has resigned in response to criticism regarding her handling of anti-Semitism on campus and claims of plagiarism. Growing pressure from the public, faculty, and students—who believed that these problems had undermined the President's leadership—led to the decision to step down.

THE CLAIMS OF PLAGIARISM:  The President was accused of plagiarizing words and ideas without giving due credit to other people. Investigations of the President's doctoral thesis turned up these accusations. The plagiarism was found, which led to a decline in confidence in her academic honesty and made her unfit to run a school with a reputation for rigorous academic standards.

CAMPUS ANTI-SEMITISM: The President's handling of anti-Semitism on campus was criticized as well. There have been numerous reports of anti-Semitic acts, and many students and faculty members felt that the President's response to these instances was inadequate. Her leadership and reputation were further damaged by this, which raised calls for her resignation.

THE EFFECT ON HARVARD UNIVERSITY: The esteemed university is in an unclear situation following the resignation of its president.   Emerging from the ownership restructuring process, the premier bank also achieved a 30.3 per cent growth in gross earnings, posting N716.8 billion as against N550.3 billion recorded in the comparative year. Its non-interest revenue stood at N342.2 billion, up 106.4 per cent from N165.8 billion posted in the 2020 financial year. Its operating income revenue margin grew from 42.5 per cent to 61.5 per cent, a 19-percentage point improvement.
